Our 100% baby alpaca throw hails from Peru. Alpacas are members of the South American camelid family which also includes llamas, guanacos and vicunas. They are indigenous to the highlands of the Andes where their breeding is a vital component of the economy for a large sector of the population. Alpacas are prized for their natural, luxurious, silky, soft and durable fiber that is biodegradable and hypoallergenic.
Alpacas are bred especially for their fiber. They are natural vegetarians and graze on vegetation typically found on high altitude moorlands. Fewer than one alpaca exists per acre; their impact on the environment is therefore minimal. No harm is caused to the alpacas during the sheering process, which occurs only once every 12 months. After the fiber is collected it is hand sorted into grades by a cooperative of highly trained women. The very finest grade is called “baby alpaca,” which is reserved for our lightweight and warm throws.
Our alpaca throws are a luxuriously soft addition to your home or travel bag. Every purchase directly supports our artisan partners in Peru, who sustainably source and weave each throw for Meridian.
This 100% baby alpaca throw is 50” x 70” with a 3” fringe on each end.

Our Blue and White Porcelain Pot is handmade by a third-generation artisan family from the “Porcelain Capital” of China, where pottery has been produced for 1,700 years. Each step of the pot making process is done by hand, from sourcing and preparing the clay, to painting, and finally glazing each pot. While our pot is new, it has been painted in the antique style of traditional Chinese porcelain.
The first step in making a pot is to mix the clay by hand and foot. The creator stomps and molds the clay on a large mound until it is tender and ready. The clay is then shaped into the pot’s desired size. It is left to naturally air dry, which takes several weeks depending on the weather. After the pot has dried, our master artisans paint the desired outline with cobalt, then fill the pattern with natural colors. The pot is then fired in a high temperature kiln. The result is the finest quality porcelain that is completely handmade.
Our Double Happiness pot is decorated with the Chinese symbol for joy. Often the character is associated with the Lunar New Year celebrations and is also the symbol found all over the wedding ceremony, as well as on gifts for the bride and groom.
This pot measures 5.5” in diameter and 4.5” deep. Made of locally sourced clay.
Each pot has been individually crafted by hand and no two are exactly alike. Please Contact Us if you have any specific needs or questions.
