Our brass elephant has been created by a family of master metal workers in southern Ghana using the ancient art form of lost wax casting. This type of metal working has been passed down over multiple generations, starting with the maker’s great-great grandfather, who was a jewelry craftsman for the Ashanti Chief. Today the family business uses the ancient technique to create detailed pieces using locally recycled brass.
To create the elephant, artisans use beeswax to make a model. They then cover the model to make a protective mold and place it in a pot over a fire so that the beeswax inside will melt. What’s left behind is an empty cast of the item, in which the artisan pours melted recycled brass. Once the brass has cooled and hardened, the mold can be cracked to reveal the elephant shape.
Our Lost Wax Cast Elephants are a cute addition to your shelf, coffee table or bar cart. Every purchase directly supports our artisan partners in Ghana, who sustainably source their materials and handcraft each item to support their family business.
This figure measures 4” L x 3” W x 3" H. Made of recycled and locally sourced brass.
Each elephant has been individually crafted by hand and no two are exactly alike. Designs may differ slightly from piece to piece. Please Contact Us if you have any specific needs or questions.
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners or chemicals. Please handle with care.

This suzani textile has been hand-embroidered by the nomadic people of Uzbekistan. Suzanis are highly regarded for their fine craftsmanship and sought-after by collectors worldwide.
The word suzani is from the Persian suzan, which means needle. Suzanis have a cotton base and feature chain, satin and buttonhole stitches. Traditional suzanis feature sun and moon design motifs, flowers and plants, fruits and occasional fish and birds. These symbols were meant to offer protection or strength to their owners.
Suzanis have a long history dating back to the early 15th century. Primarily used within a nomadic yurt, these Central Asian textiles were often featured as a rug, bedcover or wall decoration. They are traditionally made by brides and mothers as part of a family’s dowry, and presented to the groom on his wedding day.
This suzani textile is approximately 42" x 43". Handmade in Uzbekistan.
Use care when handling vintage suzanis. Due to their authentic, handmade nature and natural dyes, these textiles can be extremely fragile. Do not machine wash. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Our Pushkar Wooden Camel figure has been handcrafted by master artisans in Rajasthan, India. Each camel features a dark wood finish with pressed metal details. Once a year in Pushkar, a town in Northwestern India, more than 11,000 camels gather to celebrate the Pushkar Ka Mela, or Camel Fair. The annual 5-day camel and livestock fair attracts thousands of people who journey from all over India and the world.
The camel is the icon of the desert in India and part of its cultural identity. They are considered to be the lifeline of desert people and a vital component of the economy in arid rural areas. Different than their counterparts in other parts of the world, these single humped dromedaries have a long, curved neck, big eyes and elongated eyelashes. Camels are mostly found in the Rajasthan region of India, with a wild population native to Jaisalmer, a World Heritage Site in the heart of the Thar Desert.
These handmade figures are a stately decorative piece on a table or library shelf, alone or in a set.
Each camel is approximately 8.5”H x 7.5”L x 2.5”W. Made of wood.
Each wooden figure has been individually crafted by hand and no two are exactly alike. Due to the age of each piece, there may be small marks, scratches and some variation in color that are consistent with the item’s age and use. These markings add to the item’s patina, and tell a story of its unique history and significance. Designs may differ slightly from piece to piece.
