Our Vintage Chapati Plate has been handcrafted by artisans in Tamil Nadu, India. Made of wood, its original use was to make and serve chapati, an unleavened flatbread made of whole wheat that is a popular staple of Indian cuisine.
The plate has been finished in a natural dark wood. It is approximately 50 – 60 years old. Its patina, consistent with age and wear, makes for an organic and natural sculptural bowl with unique character.
This vintage piece looks amazing on a coffee table or used as catch-all tray.
The plate is approximately 11.5"L x 17"W x 1.75"H. Made of wood. Not intended for use with food.
Each Chapati Plate has been individually crafted by hand and no two are exactly alike. Due to the age of each piece, there may be small marks, scratches and some variation in color that are consistent with the plate’s age and original use. These markings add to the item’s patina, and tell a story of its unique history and significance. Please Contact Us if you have any specific needs or questions.
