This vibrant one-of-a-kind rug features a traditional design handwoven in the Totonicapan region of Guatemala.
Known for bold, geometric designs, the K’iche’ people in this Western Highlands area dye handspun virgin wool and cotton in natural shades of indigo and blue. The weavers blend the cotton and wool as they weave each rug on a foot pedal loom. Techniques and designs have been passed down through multiple generations and the weavers are dedicated to preserving this ancient handmade craft.
We love the classic blue and white hues, and the durability of this modern rug (it’s double sided!). Style it with mid-century or traditional furniture for the bespoke, well-traveled air of a worldly collector.
This rug is approximately 34" x 60 3/4".
Our Guatemalan rugs are authentic and high quality representatives of Mayan craft sourced in Guatemala. Due to their entirely handmade creation process, minor imperfections and color variations may be visible that speak to the handmade process and tell the story of its creator. No two rugs are exactly the same.
All of our textiles are handcrafted using the finest natural materials. We recommend a light vacuum for general upkeep. Please avoid direct or prolonged sunlight exposure. Professional dry cleaning recommended, although this rug may be hand washed with cold water and mild soap. Lay flat to dry.
