This precious and petite stuffed animal has been hand crocheted by a Fair Trade women’s organization in Armenia that is dedicated to the promotion of traditional Armenian crafts.
Our partner in Armenia employs over 600 women from rural areas and empowers these local artisans by providing fair pay and a safe work environment. The funds earned through the sales of their craft provide supplemental household income to support families, send children to school and live a more stable life.
Crochet is a traditional form of needlework that consists of the interlocking of looped stitches formed with a single thread and a hooked needle. Traditionally, needlework became a form of expression for Armenian women in a period when they were largely without rights. In modern times, rural Armenian women rely on needlework for income to support their families.
This handmade llama is approximately is 6” H x 5" L.
We recommend spot cleaning your knit animal to help preserve its shape and details. That said, as parents we’ve been there and sometimes you need a better laundering option. In those rare instances, try for a gentle hand wash and avoid overly submerging it in water. Lay flat to dry.
