This paper mache bowl has been hand shaped in rural India. The art of paper mache in India was born out of necessity in order to minimize waste. Artisans collect and recycle paper products and form them into a pulp. Using traditional methods, the pulp is layered and molded by hand into its desired shape. Today, paper mache is considered a luxury ornamental handicraft in India.
This bowl is intended for decorative use only, and is a beautiful accent on a bookshelf, or used as a catchall or centerpiece on a table. Each bowl has been finished in a natural beige color and a distressed, weathered finish. Since each bowl is handmade, no two bowls are the same, and size and design may vary slightly.
Each bowl is approximately 10" in diameter x 5" high. Intended for decorative use only. Do not use with food.
Each Paper Mache Bowl has been individually crafted by hand and no two are exactly alike. Due to the age of each piece, there may be small marks, scratches and some variation in color that are consistent with the bowl's age and original use. These markings add to the item’s patina, and tell a story of its unique history and significance. Please Contact Us if you have any specific needs or questions.
